Toddler Interpreter, A Parent’s Guide to Baby Sign Language for Hearing Babies and Toddlers, 2009 Edition
Our book Toddler Interpreter has had many wonderful reviews recently and we would love to share these with you.
We aim to make learning Baby Sign Language fun and easy with our “How To” guide Toddler Interpreter. We believe that Baby Sign Language brings so many opportunities and provides such a great foundation for early learning, positive parenting, and communication between parent and child.
We are using Baby Sign Language with our own daughter Scarlette Ella and through these simple gestures she has been able to understand what we are saying to her from about 4-5 months of age. She hasn’t had the need to cry for milk, ever.
I hope that through our book Toddler Interpreter we manage to convince a few more parents of the wonderful experience that Baby Sign Language brings to your home so that it can become a mainstream and widely accepted part of everyday modern parenting.
Thanks for all your support, and please go ahead to read what others have had to say…
When I received my Toddler Interpreter book in the mail I was so excited to start teaching little bug sign language. It takes you through the steps of how to teach your baby/toddler to sign and has tips to make signing fun and easy to learn. At the back of the book there are 60 baby signs set out in 5 easy to learn stages so that you can teach the signs according to your child’s age. I immediately started reading it and began to teach little bug signs. I was amazed at how quickly he picked up the signs. And learning sign language has actually taught him how to speak new words, that was something I didn’t realize he would learn from it. It has also helped a lot at reducing the frequency of tantrums because now he can tell me what he wants with his signs. And anytime we can have less tantrums it is a wonderful thing! I wish I would have had the toddler interpreter earlier on because it would have been nice to start teaching him even earlier. I recommend this book to all parent’s with babies/toddlers…Read More.
I thoroughly enjoyed trying this with my son – combined with his few verbal words, he now signs for bath, a drink, where and more which has eased a lot of our stressful times. I would have loved to have had this book sooner, as you can begin signing as early as 6 months, so I could have enjoyed the benefits sooner. It is a wonderful bond to know that your non-verbal baby is telling you something and you are understanding them…Read More.
What I liked about this comprehensive book is that it is chock-full of beautiful photos and illustrations, along with an index in the back of the book. This all-inclusive book includes answers and FAQ such as why you should teach your toddler to sign; when you should begin teaching and what makes this book unique compared to similar books of it’s genre. I wasn’t aware that sign language varies from state-to-state as well as internationally. If you’re a parent, pre-school teacher or daycare provider, this is one reference book you should read, implement and keep at-the ready on your bookshelf…Read More.
Before my twins learned to talk, we had a lot of success in teaching them to communicate through basic sign language. It was so cute to see their little hands form the sign for “more” or “cookie.” I was amazed at how quickly they caught on! Of course, I first had to educate myself on learning the signs before I could teach them to my kids. I did find some great resources, but I wish that Toddler Interpreter had been published! This brand-new, full-color book by Ian Creaser and Lisa Baade BSC is an excellent guide for teaching baby sign language to your hearing baby or toddler…Read More.

When I got my book in the mail, I was so excited to read up and start this with Chandler. I was worried that he would be to young since he just turned a year old. Come to find out though, you can start as young as 6 months and as late as 30 months. It is truly amazing, we are still working on the first stage but I feel that he will be doing this in no time. The book consist of 5 stages total, and each stage has 12 new signs and you teach your child based on his or her age. This will work out great not only at home but as well as preschool. I highly recommend this book to all parents/grandparents out there that want to be able to talk to their little one. Read More…
